Alopecia/Hair Loss & Chinese Herbal Medicine

Alopecia, or hair loss, is a common ailment that affects both men and women of all ages. Western medicine utilizes corticosteroids to treat this condition, which are powerful drugs that suppress the body’s immune system. This can lead to a number of side effects, including weakening the body’s natural defenses and making the patient prone to bacterial, fungal, and viral infections.

In this case, we treated the patient with both topical and internal Chinese herbal medicine, along with acupuncture and dietary and lifestyle modifications. Chinese herbal medicine is powerful, yet completely safe with very little to no side effects. As you can see, the patient had complete resolution of symptoms after 8 weeks of treatment.

Chinese herbal medicine is a valuable tool for treating (among other things) all manner of skin conditions, including (but not limited to) acne, psoriasis, and rosacea. To learn more about Chinese herbal medicine and how it is utilized at Galen Wilson Acupuncture, click here.
